Streets of Kolkata

Kolkata was previously India’s capital before it was handed over to New Delhi in 1911 due to its geographical disadvantage, but it is the capital of the Indian State, West Bengal.  The Bengali culture and traditions run strong through the city making the city into a great cultural hub of India. As you travel the streets of Kolkata you will see evidence of the Bengali culture through dance, music, art, film and theatre venues. The Kolkatans are proud of their culture, which is what makes Kolkata stand out against other Indian cities, apart from the traffic which is a defining feature linking all the cities.

Over the past ten years, Kolkata has grown into the main urban area in Western Indian and has seen a rise in malls, high end restaurants and economic growth. The restaurants here cook up amazing traditional Bengali dishes which are milder than the typical Indian dishes.
