If there is one thing that everyone knows about Egypt, it has to be the pyramids. They are one of the Seven Wonders of the World after all! Close to the outskirts of Cairo is the Giza Necropolis. The Great Pyramids are found there as well as the Great Sphinx. All the monuments were constructed from limestone, and are believed to have been constructed to house remains of Pharaohs. The Giza Necropolis is easily reached from Cairo and you can also visit the pyramid museum, several cemeteries and a small village.
