China CULTURE
China has one of the oldest and most complex cultures in the world that can be seen through architecture, martial arts, visual arts and traditional dress. Chinese architecture has always stood out against western designs and structure construction has gone greatly unchanged since the Tang Dynasty. The only aspect that has majorly changed is that the buildings developed from being built with wood, to being built with brick and stone. Modern architecture made its way into Chinas infrastructure due to pressure of a rising population and lack of space.
Martial arts or kung fu is a Chinese fighting style that has been crafted over many centuries. There are varieties of techniques; some that focus on muscle strength, some on cardiovascular fitness and some on internal strength. Today, it is still hugely popular in China which some people commit fully to and see it as a way of life while others join a class as a great way to stay in shape.
Chinese visual art is similar to its architecture with the fact that it easily stands out with its own distinct aesthetic. Through the centuries many different mediums have been used to create works of art including pottery, bronze casting, calligraphy and painting. One of the most famous works of art is the Terracotta Army, which consists of 7,000 life-size tomb figures of warriors and horses. They were commissioned by the Emperor of Qin to be buried with him.
